Privacy policy
Effective July 16, 2026 · applies to cruiseindex.net
The short version: CruiseIndex is a cruise-comparison site, not a data
business. We collect almost nothing, we sell nothing about you to anyone, and the
only personal information we ever hold is an email address you choose to give us.
What we collect
- Your email address — only if you give it to us. If you sign up for
price-drop alerts or launch updates, we store the address you provide and, if you
were looking at a specific search or sailing, the context needed to alert you
about it. That's the only personal information we ask for.
- Basic, aggregate usage data. Standard web-server logs and
privacy-respecting analytics (page views, referrers, country-level location,
browser type) to understand what's working. We do not build individual profiles
and we do not use advertising trackers.
- Local preferences. Settings like your selected cabin type or filters
may be stored in your own browser (localStorage) so the site remembers them.
They stay on your device; we don't receive them.
What we do with it
- Send you the alerts or updates you asked for. Every email includes an
unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing works the first time.
- Operate, debug, and improve the site.
What we never do
- We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
- We never share your email with cruise lines, travel agencies, or anyone else,
except the service providers below who process it on our behalf.
- We never gate scores or prices behind giving us your data.
Who else touches the data
Two categories of service providers, acting on our instructions:
- Email delivery. The provider that stores our mailing list and sends the
emails you signed up for.
- Hosting & analytics. The infrastructure that serves the site and the
privacy-respecting analytics service that counts visits.
Affiliate links: when you click out to book a cruise, you leave
CruiseIndex and the destination site's own privacy policy applies. Our affiliate
links tell the merchant that the visit came from CruiseIndex — they do not carry
your name, email, or anything else about you. See our

Retention & your choices
- We keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it;
either happens promptly on request.
- You can request a copy or deletion of any personal data we hold about you —
email us and we'll do it. No forms, no friction.
- Aggregate analytics contain no personal identifiers and may be kept
indefinitely.
Cookies
CruiseIndex works without advertising cookies. Any cookies or local storage we
use are functional (remembering your settings) or anonymous analytics.
Children
CruiseIndex is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly
collect their information.
Changes & contact
If this policy changes materially, we'll note it here with a new effective
